Infants

In the infant room, we follow each child's independent schedule. We do not have restrictive equipment in our classroom in order to help promote muscle development, independence, and exploration.

During our typical day, we do activities to promote social, emotional, and language skills as well as developmentally appropriate milestones.

Toddler I Room

In the Toddler I Room, children participate in daily large and small group activities that promote teaching important life skills and independence.

We focus daily on increasing our social-emotional skills,  language development, gross motor development and learning to play and have fun!

Toddler II Room

In the Toddler II Room, we promote learning through our senses, providing both the opportunity for activities during room exploration as well as more structured activity time.

We love to grow our independence, so we begin to help with small, age-appropriate tasks and build on our daily life skills.

Two's Room

In the Twos Room, we begin to introduce a structured schedule to allow children an easier transition to a preschool setting. We also have an in-room toilet to allow for an easier transition to potty training.

During the day, we provide activities to promote self-growth and independence, color and shape recognition, and literacy and language development.

Three's Room

In the Threes Room, we continue to get children ready for school by building experience in a more structured classroom with a schedule similar to what they can expect next year in the P4J Classroom.

During the day, we have circle time and work on social and emotional development. We begin to focus on name recognition, and build on our previous STEAM knowledge and skills.

Four's Room

Our Fours Room is for children who are currently attending P4J, as well as students who missed the P4J cutoff and will be attending next year.

Our daily schedule allows us to enjoy structured group activities as well as child-led activities and free play time to promote independent learning and problem-solving in the classroom.

P4J

The School District of Janesville and Child's First is excited to offer a 4-year-old kindergarten program for all children who are 4 years old on or before September 1 of that enrollment year.

This 4-year-old kindergarten program is called Preschool 4 Janesville (P4J).

  • The School District of Janesville partners with 15 different community early learning and care locations within Janesville. Preschool 4 Janesville is funded through the Department of Public Instruction and the School District of Janesville.

  • Participating families do not pay tuition to participate in the P4J program. Community collaboration has been an integral component of this exciting early learning initiative.

  • Preschool 4 Janesville classrooms will offer a developmentally appropriate preschool experience.

  • Each classroom is taught by a DPI-certified teacher.

  • A minimum of 437 hours of preschool instruction will be offered by each partnering community program.

  • The School District of Janesville and the collaborating P4J sites offer a minimum of 87.5 hours of parent outreach programming.
